The Medical Program

Location: Delhi / Noida
Duration: 1-12 weeks
Hours: 25-40 hours per week
Food: (3 times a day)
Room: Host family or hostel

Project Summary
Basic health care is in dire need among the impoverished people of India. Deaths are a common daily occurrence because of lack of the most basic care. Volunteers have an opportunity to make a real difference. The Medical Program allows volunteers with a health care background, current area of study or an intrest in the medical field to fill this passion by teaching health care tips in local organizations on an international level.

Volunteer responsibilities
Volunteers for this program will spend their time following and helping doctors during their shift as a doctor’s assistant. Volunteers are not allowed to aid in any surgical procedure for any reason. Tasks include: taking patient temperatures, height, and weight, giving needed medication and providing counseling to patients if needed. Volunteers may possibly participate in discussing treatments for patients with the doctor on a case by case basis.

Skill/Qualifications
Volunteers interested in joining the Medical Program in India must be either a certified doctor, medical student, or have an interest in the medical field. Experience not necessary but is suggested.

Room & Board
Volunteering Love arranges room, board and food (3 meals a day) from the beginning of your stay to the completion of your project. Volunteers will stay with a host family/hostel with accommodations including a separate bedroom area specified for volunteers as well as a communal bathroom setting. Volunteering Love employs a local staff near the projects (Delhi, Faridabad, Gurgaon) allowing a staff member to meet volunteers whenever necessary. Volunteers will have the telephone number to the in-country coordinator as well should any further assistance be needed.
