The Cultural Immersion Program and the Famous Golden Triangle Trip Cultural Immersion Program. In India, Volunteering Love offers one week of Language and Cultural orientation which proceeds the volunteering. Volunteering Love has established an office in Faridabad, a peaceful town nearly 30 miles south of Delhi where the program takes place and where 3 meals a day and housing are provided. Volunteers learn the basics of the Hindi language, receive lectures on Indian culture, religions, politics of India, climates and two full days of exploration: New and Old Delhi (Jama Masjid, Rajghat, Chandani Chowk, Red Fort, and Qutub Minar). Famous Golden Triangle Trip. Tentative Itinerary: Day One: Explore major tourist attractions of Delhi. Your adventure starts immediately. On the first day you will visit the important places on Old Delhi: the majestic Red Fort, the historical Chandni Chowk, Raj Ghat and Shanti Vana. In New Delhi visit the Rashtrapati Bhawan, once host to the imperial British viceroys; the India Gate, a monument raised in honor of the Indian and soldiers martyred during the Afghan war; the Laxminarayan Temple, built by the Birlas, one of India’s leading industrial families; Qutab Minar, built by Qutub-ud-din Albek of the Slave Dynasty; and the Baha’i Lotus Temple. Day Two: Jaipur. The second day starts with a sightseeing tour of the “Pink City” of Jaipur. Visit the City Palace in the center of Jaipur which is well known for its mix of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture; the nearby Central Museum with its beautiful collection of woodwork, jewelry, costumes, brassware, and pottery; and, Janter Mantar, the biggest of the five observatories built by Sawai Jai Singh. You will then visit the Hawa Mahal or the Palace of Winds which was built so the royal ladies could attend and view the royal processions from sight. Day Three: Jaipur/Agra. Visit the deserted town of Fatehpur Sikri; the red sandstone city of the past and the first stop on an adventuresome five hour drive to the city pf Taj! Upon arrival you will check into your hotel before viewing one of the seven wonders of the world, the Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal is completely made of white marble and its walls are constructed of delicate Pietra Dura (stone inlay) work. Day Four: Explore the Taj Mahal and return to Delhi. Wake up early to view the Taj Mahal by sunrise, and then tour the city of Agra. You will see the Itmad-ud-dualah’s tomb as well as an enchanting elephant ride. In the afternoon we will drive back to Delhi. This is a sample itinerary by the program coordinator. This trip will happen most likely in the middle or the end of your stay in India. |
