The Drug Rehabiliation Program

Location: Delhi, Gurgaon
Duration: 1-12 weeks
Hours: 25-40 hours per week
Food: (3 times a day)
Room: Host family or hostel

Project Summary
Drug and alcohol addiction is becoming more and more prevalent in India. The volunteers have an opportunity to understand how addiction affects people in India as well as lend a compassionate hand.

Volunteer responsibilities
As volunteers, participants will often be involved in counseling activities at the rehabilitation center, skill-sharing and training activities, rendering help in alcohol and drug addiction treatment (trained volunteers with a health care/addiction/recovery background only), helping to prepare and present educational programs, as well as any related help requested by local organizations. Volunteers can also teach English, and spend time with the patients teaching them games, drawing or painting as well.

Skill/Qualifications
There are no specific education, experience, skills and/or qualifications needed to join the Drug Rehabilitation Program. However, volunteers are expected to be flexible, patient as well as possess a passion and love for drug and alcohol addiction/recovery. A background in this field may overall help with your understanding of the disease and its effect, however not mandatory.

Room & Board
Volunteering Love arranges room, board and food (3 meals a day) from the beginning of your stay to the completion of your project. Volunteers will stay with a host family/hostel with accommodations including a separate bedroom area specified for volunteers as well as a communal bathroom setting. Volunteering Love employs a local staff near the projects (Delhi, Faridabad, Gurgaon) allowing a staff member to meet volunteers whenever necessary. Volunteers will have the telephone number to the in-country coordinator as well should any further assistance be needed.
